The Pharaonic civilization still exercises a powerful fascination on modern man. Yet, other cultures (Byzantine, Islamic and Copt) have flourished along the Nile and helped shape today’s Egypt.

So who are the Egyptians? Do they really descend from the pharaohs?

There is indeed a link but the answer is nonetheless more complex since this country is at the crossroads of multiple influences and torn between ageless traditions and a constant move toward modernity.
