Until it was dismantled at the beginning of the 1990s, most of the Europeans knew nothing about Yugoslavia except for its Adriatic coast. The spectacular blue coastline of Istria and Dalmatia was though hiding an extremely rich patchwork of countries, peoples and cultures.
