Ayakashi: Samurai Horror Tales, known in Japan as Ayakashi: Japanese Classic Horror, is a Japanese anime horror anthology television series produced by Toei Animation.
The series is made up of three stories. The first one, “Yotsuya Ghost Story” (Yotsuya Kaidan), comprises 4 episodes (1-4). It is an adaptation of the classic Yotsuya Ghost Story kabuki play by Nanboku Tsuruya IV. The second one, “Goddess of the Dark Tower (Tenshu Monogatari)”, also comprises 4 episodes (5-8). It is based on the play by Kyōka Izumi. The last one “Goblin Cat (Bake Neko)”, comprises 3 episodes (9-11). It is based on an original story by Kenji Nakamura and Michiko Yokote.
